As the National Guitar Workshop celebrates its 25th Anniversary, we are also celebrating our 11th season in
Austin, Texas. We’re excited to announce that this year’s program will be held at St. Edward’s University, located on South Congress Avenue in the heart of Austin. Campus director, Jason Shadrick, is thrilled about the new campus. “St. Edward’s University will be an exciting change for us with great facilities, easy access to downtown, and a great opportunity for our students to experience all Austin has to offer.”
Austin, “the live music capital of the world,” is home to many great musical venues, including: The Continental Club, Stubb’s, Emo’s, and La Zona Rosa. Music legends Stevie Ray Vaughan and Willie Nelson each got their start in Austin, as well as Marcia Ball and Cindy Cashdollar. Minutes from St. Edward’s University is the Ruta Maya Coffee House, which hosts one of the longest running weekly open mic nights in Texas. Our students will have the stimulating experience of playing in this landmark town. Plus, the teachers always give terrific, inspiring performances, adding to the whole experience.
NGW is also delighted to be having the Blues Summit again in Austin, and we’re looking forward to another fun and invigorating trip to Antone’s, the “home of the blues.” For more information, visit www.guitarworkshop.com or call 800-234-6479.
