WorkshopLive is pleased to announce an upcoming lesson partnership with guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani. Joe has been a National Guitar Workshop guest artist who has recorded some scorching albums and been nominated for several Grammy awards over the past couple of years.
In 2007, Satch was again nominated for a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance for the song “Always with Me, Always with You” from his Satriani Live album.
“WorkshopLive has signed a preliminary agreement with the Satriani camp to form a lesson partnership that will bring Satch’s enormous talents to WorkshopLive in the near future,” said WorkshopLive’s Chief Content Officer, Nathaniel Gunod.
Now in the development stage, partnership planners are conducting a survey to determine just what types of lessons subscribers to WorkshopLive’s Satch Zone would like to see. When the survey is complete, lessons will be scripted and prepared for production, according to Gunod.
Soon to depart on his European Tour ’08, Satriani has had a long string of successful albums, starting with his famous “Surfing with the Alien” project back in 1987. This was the first instrumental guitar album ever to crack the top 40 charts. He has continued to produce gold and platinum selling albums ever since, with over 7 million copies sold worldwide.
Along the way, Joe has teamed up with the likes of rockers such as Mick Jagger, Deep Purple and Alice Cooper on various projects. With 13 Grammy nominations spawning from the 11 solo albums he’s produced since “Surfing with the Alien,” Satriani has been a prolific innovator in the music industry for decades. He currently holds the #8 slot in Guitar Player Magazine’s Top 50 Greatest Guitarists poll.
His ability to teach guitar is impressive as well, as his student roster includes names like Steve Vai, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Counting Crows’ David Bryson and jazz artist Charlie Hunter. Satriani’s association with the National Guitar Workshop (WorkshopLive’s sister company) dates back to 2006, when he conducted clinics as a guest artist at the New Milford, Connecticut campus.
Stay tuned for more details on what promises to be a very harmonious relationship between WorkshopLive and guitar legend Joe Satriani. Satch on WorkshopLive…cool!
