Burgess Speed

This is truly a loss. I haven't heard any of his work since 1997, but his first two albums, Living with the Law and Terra Incognita, are amazing. He combined slide and Dobro playing with his unique vocal style to create a music that was strange and impossible to categorize, yet somehow homey and familiar. Elements of the Texas blues, country, and progressive or "alternative" rock could all be found in his powerful, thought-provoking, good-feeling and slightly weird contributions to the world of music. Thanks Chris.
