How do we listen to music? I spend most of my days listening to a number of radio stations that are streaming online. More often than not they are community radio stations from around the country, sometimes I listen to sports radio, but rarely. I get all the sports news I can handle on reruns of ESPN Sportscenter at 6 a.m.
Another one of our WorkshopLive staffers recommended a new favorite, KKJZ from the Left Coast. Here they've got live real time updated playlists, successful community projects and you can stream in a number of formats. Learn more about jazz from their "88's" feature on the site. Thank you Amy for suggesting this site.
Many neighborhoods in New Orleans may be washed away by Hurricane Katrina and levee breaks, but the true Guardians of the Flame on the airwaves thrive on. WWOZ is my oldest and most favorite community radio station. Gone are the days of John Sinclair and Mike Gourier, but through thick and thin this radio station was exiled to New Jersey, Baton Rouge and are now broadcasting from the French Quarter, just a few blocks from Armstrong Park. WWOZ will keep you up to date on the recently announced Musician's Village, Jazz Fest 2006 and all that's happening locally in the city that we are all challenged to help rebuild.
What are your favorite online radio stations?
KCRW from LA - incredible variety.
