Outoftune asked in the WL forum today:
Is it worth buying a copy of either a Fender or Gibson? I went to Guitarcenter.com and looked up the price for a Fender standard stratocaster. The cheapest model starts at $369.99; the Squier standard strat goes for $199.99, a $170 price difference. For a Gibson Les Paul classic electric you have to shell out $1,799.99, and for a comparable Epiphone Les Paul standard $379.99, a price difference of $1,420!
Obviously, the difference between a Fender strat and a copy is not that big, but is huge between an original Gibson and a copy. What does it mean? Is Epiphone total crap, or is Gibson just overpriced? What about Fender and Squier or any other copy brands?
Thanks for advice!
