Blue Note Records has begun releasing cuts from its
classic jazz albums for use as ring tones on mobile phones. Now instead of
hearing twisted electronic snippets of "Super Mario Brothers", "The Pink Panther", or "My Humps" when your phone rings, you can hear “Straight No Chaser” by
Thelonious Monk, “My Funny Valentine” by Chet Baker, “Watermelon Man” by Herbie
Hancock or Jimmy Smith’s “Back at the Chicken Shack.” Who says jazz doesn't get respect in its home country?
I'd rather annoy my friend and impress my children!
