IndyGuitarist.com
offers a downloadable book of modifications to an Epiphone Valve Junior amp.
The Valve Junior is a 5 watt class A amp with two controls (volume and power),
available as either a head or a combo for less that $200. The book is $16.99,
the various parts for the mods are a few dollars, depending. Here’s what you
can get out of the amp when you’re done, according to the web site:
-Decrease muddiness and excess bass
-Fender tones
-Marshall tones
-"Baby vox" tones
-Bad Cat mini-cat tones
-Hoffman "schedule 40" tones
-Install a high/low gain switch
-Add a gain control
-Add a master volume control
-Add Negative feedback and switch it on/off
-Pentode/Triode mode allows the amp to run at 5 watts or 2.5
watts
-Add a bright switch
-changing the output transformer for a smoother tone
Sounds like fun.
