Ever dream of being a rock star?
Well, this summer you can make that dream a reality. If you’re between the ages of 8 and 15 you can attend DayJams Rock Music Day Camp. Now in its 10th year, DayJams has helped over 8,000 children nationwide develop their talents by offering instruction on guitar, bass, keyboards, drums, horns and vocals. The kids join a band on Monday and by Friday they’re on stage in front of family and friends playing their hearts out.
The camp was started by David Smolover and Nat Gunod who run the National Guitar Workshop, a summer program for older teenagers and adults. Smolover says, “We realized there was a need for a program that catered to younger children,” so in 1999 they created DayJams. The program has since spread across the country with locations from Los Angeles to Boston.
For those who have never played an instrument, DayJams is a fun way to get a jump start. For the experienced player, it’s a chance to study with the best musicians in town. Our friendly and creative curriculum-based environment guides campers in songwriting, instrument lessons, clinics, art and concert performance. Learning is achieved through dedication, honesty, and a free and open expression of ideas. Based on the knowledge that every child has something to gain from a positive experience with music, DayJams is proud to contribute to the cultural growth and education of the nation’s young generation.
