Top Jazz Artists at NGW this Summer

The National Guitar Workshop has always been dedicated to presenting top-level guest artists to its students, and this summer’s jazz lineup is no exception. With the talent of Kenny Burrell and the John Scofield Trio, all jazz enthusiasts are in for a treat.

Kenny Burrell is among the handful of guitar greats who have forever changed the role of their instrument. He has been a jazz professional for 40 years and appeared on several hundred albums as leader and sideman. He will be a guest artist in Tom Dempsey’s Giants of Jazz Guitar seminar (July 5–10) at the Los Angeles campus. This class is a unique opportunity to experience the lineage of jazz guitar, as students will study the music and improvisation styles of many legendary jazz guitarists including: Charlie Christian, Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, George Benson, Jim Hall, Joe Pass and Grant Green. It is sure to be a great experience.

The National Guitar Workshop will be giving away two Guitar Hero units at its remaining open houses this season. Students and prospective students who attend these events will have the opportunity to participate in a raffle, with other prizes including discounts on NGW tuition.
